Drug Addiction

Human Life Challenge: Drug Addition

Literally, millions in America, and many more millions across the world, suffer from Drug Addiction, and it’s devastating effects.  Alcohol, illicit drugs, prescribed drugs – all together, contribute to destroyed lives and families each day.  It is a desperate black hole to human life, swallowing up fathers, mothers, and children alike.  Enriching the providers with billions, and destroying the users lives and futures without regard for age, health, or social status.  The evil of drugs, seeks only control, addiction, and death.  Of course there are many causes for addictions, some mental, some social, some circumstantial; but always there is one common denominator – personal choice.  As humanity, we must speak and act with one voice when it comes to addiction; and that voice must first articulate a heart of compassion for those who are diseased with this curse, for whatever reason.  We must help them, despite the energy required to do do, we must help them, and at the same time be devout in focusing national resources against the many causes and distributive networks of drugs.

Things You Can Do

  1. Learn. Build up some knowledge on drug abuse, especially in America. Educate yourself to the growing opioid addiction issue.

  2. Get Help for Yourself or someone else.

  3. Support local, state, national programs for combatting drug addictions, and for supporting the recovery of addicts and their families.

  4. Act.  If someone you know is suffering from an addiction; be it alcohol or a narcotic, know that it is clearly ruinous to their life, and lives around them.  It’s not easy, but most necessary that people act to help through intervention and support.  If you can, act with others and professionals to assist an addict out of their dependency and desperation, and into a life of stability.  And pray.

  • There are local, county, state, and private programs to help people recover from their addictions.

  • Go On the Internet, and look for services in your area.

  • However, an individual with addiction, also, most often has other issues; like mental illness and depression.

  • Recognize the road to recovery Is difficult, taxing to the spirit and mind, yet worth it if we can save a life.

  • Invite God, through prayer, into the addicts life, for a full and complete recovery.
