Waste Management, Recycling

Life of Our Planet Challenge: Waste Management, Recycling

A world of waste. Every year we dump a massive 2.12 billion tons of waste. If all this waste was put on trucks they would go around the world 24 times. Why so much? This stunning amount of waste is partly because 99 percent of the stuff we buy is trashed within 6 months. The good news !Leading green companies are becoming zero-waste companies. Zero waste is a philosophy that encourages redesign so that all products are reused. The process is similar to the way resources are reused in nature. [theworldcounts.com].  If we fail, at managing our waste, both efficiently, and effectively, it is simply going to overwhelm our world with pollutants, land ruination, water ruination, and toxicity.  We must do everything we can, individually, as communities, as nations, and as a world; to combat waste and promote recycling of our resources.

Things You Can Do

  1. Learn.

  2. Act. We cannot stand idly by and hope someone else does the heavy lifting.  This is our planet, our home, and a precious oasis in the immensity of a grand universe.  We all need to pitch in and do what we can to help ensure a greater health and life of our Planet; its waters, its air, its fertile lands, and polar ice caps. We need to fight pollution of our waterways and the ocean, we need to arrest climate change due to human causes, and we need to act as one people, undivided.  Whatever you can to help, is needed.  Check out these websites for ideas you can do.  And always support regional, national, and international efforts to improve our planet, improve our waste management and recycling, and protect the world’s many splendors.
